How am I supposed to prepare a cover letter if firms allow us apply to 3 different positions (MS Summer Analyst for example)?

This seems antithetical to me as expressing motivation for 3 (sometimes more) internships in one cover letter seems messy and may come across as disingenuous and defeats the purpose of the letter imo. Am I missing something here ?

You do a different cover letter for each at MS I believe. Gs you don't, but it's pretty obvious, just apply for things directly related to each other and if they aren't then don't apply for them. HR says that each application to different roles is viewed independently but I have heard differently from some bankers, so who knows? Just play it safe because it is incredibly hard to fit into 300 words why you would like to join ib, s&t and wealth management without writing contradictory waffle.
