How casual/open can you be with HHs?

When a recruiter gets in contact to discuss a role, often they will arrange a call to discuss what kind of role you’re looking for and may ask a few questions about what you do on your desk/motivations etc.

Should I be preparing structured “interview” standard, STAR-esque answers or is it fine to just talk openly?

For reference, a recruiter called me a while ago to discuss an open position which matched my profile. I was in a rush so I probably answered his questions with more brevity than usual and also mentioned how said role could open doors for my “end goal” job a few years down the line if that's where my career takes me. I know certain HH firms can be quite poor but I never received the JD… Did I disqualify myself?
