How do I gain experience in the industry will little to no finance work experience
About to start Uni in September a a non target russel-group studying finance and fintech with a placement year. As I'm doing a 4 year course with a placement year I will receive work experience at the end of my degree but ideally I would like to gain an internship at an investment bank before my course is over. Currently I only have work experience as a private GCSE Maths tutor and I'm in the process of becoming a trustee for a charity (which I'm not counts as work experience).
I effectively have 2 years to apply for spring weeks because firms specify that they want applicants in the 1st year of a 3 year course or the 2nd of a 4th year course. Ill be applying for next years springs just incase I'm lucky but I'm counting it as "practise year" where I can apply and also use it to gain basic work experience in IB/Finance. So how do I gain said experience within my first year of uni with minimal prior work experience other than applying for springs?
