How hard is it to get London summer internships?

I'm kind of unsure how hard it is to get summer internships. How hard is it compared to getting spring weeks? I see people say that getting spring weeks is really random but I'm not sure what they mean. What are some UK WSO experiences on the difficulty of getting interviews?

About me:

I've applied to lots of spring weeks but had no luck so far. Had one interview (pessimistic about progressing), still got to hear back from 7 and rejected from 5.

I'm a UK engineering student in the third year of a five year degree. By the time I apply for summer internships this autumn, I'll have had an internship in a very minor engineering company last summer + maybe at a much bigger engineering company this summer. I'm sure I can get skills to look transferable

If I tell you its hard are you going to try more?

If I tell you its easy are you going to try less?

Getting anything is hard for anyone now a days. Work your ass off. The rest of your life is going to be hard as hell.
