How to lateral to non-RE IB with REPE background as a senior in college?

I am a senior at an ivy target school for banking. My past 3 internships have all been real estate private equity / real estate investment sales, as I originally was committed to doing PERE FT out of undergrad. However, I've been doing some thinking and realized I don't want to lock myself into a career in RE so early, and am also finding IB more attractive than I did when I was younger.

My questions are:

What is the process for a lateral into investment banking at this point in time? How many opportunities will exist for an out of undergrad first-year analyst position?

How difficult is it to pivot to a non-RE IB role with a background solely in RE? What can I do to increase my chances to be seen/interviewed?

Would greatly appreciate any insights from both sides about people who have recruited FT into banking with a strong background in another industry.
