How to move to in-person meetings/continue relationship

Y'all,

So I've established a decent network and I've only had 1-2 phone calls with each of them. I hear it's better to move to in-person meetings so I was wondering how could I suggest that without meeting creepy? I live in the town they work in, so I can't use the excuse "I'm in town this weekend, wanna get a coffee?". Should I go along the lines "Hey, I had some questions about _____ and was wondering if you'd want to meet up to discuss them?". I feel like that could be covered over the phone though, so what are things that I could genuinely request that are only offered one-on-one.

Thanks y'all and remember to Check yo 6.

Do you have an actual reason to meet up with your contacts in person? If not, it can come off as annoying and bothersome since most people realize that you're not attempting to forge an actual friendship here, but that you need something out of them. It's incredibly apparent, and people are, for the most part, usually OK with it - they did the same thing and are trying to pay it forward. With that said, you don't need to be meeting up with people to stay connected - usually an e-mail every couple of months to check in and see how things are going would suffice, as long as you have something of note to update them with or ask for their advice about. Could always move things to in person with telling them you're looking for advice and would be great to meet up and discuss over coffee or the phone - let them decide.
