IBD --> mutual funds for FT recruiting?

Interning in IBD right now but hoping to go to a mutual fund for full time. Hoping to work in equity research. Does anyone have any color on the process? How hard it is, how I can best prepare, and if you tried/were successful?

For more color, I'm expecting to get a return offer at a respectable bank but just can't see myself doing banking full time.

All mutual funds care about is passion/interest in investing. As long as you have stock pitch and stuff down you’ll be fine. Make sure you can justify to them why you want to make the switch and how you’re background prepares you for a career in public markets investing.

Mutual fund people won’t be as blown away by the banking skill set (as opposed to say, PE) just because they don’t cross over as much and the skill sets are less compatible. Just make sure you have your story down cold for why you are prepared/want to transfer industries
