internship or job
Hi everyone,
I have a question concerning how best to get a career in IB started (or S&T). I am 22 and graduating in the next month from a double masters degree (one of the two cum laude), but have never done an internship before. In London, at least some banks only take penultimate year students, meaning it is harder to get an internship. Does anyone have some advice on how to approach the situation. Should I try to get a fulltime job, or still go with an internship first at a bank that takes graduates or potentially a Dutch bank (since I am Dutch).
Thanks!
Getting a full-time offer in investment banking without any internship experience is extremely difficult. It's great that you did so well in school, but banking - and quite frankly most jobs - are a double edged sword in that you need the strong academics as well as the hands-on work experience.
I would apply to both full-time and internship positions. You may have to look at landing an internship and trying to convert that to a full-time offer.
