Interview Question: Talking about the deal you've done

I did an internship in a firm which provides research reports to private equity firms and I wrote this experience on my resume. All the work I did is researching target companies and built valuation models, but what if the interviewer ask me about the deal process? As an intern, I didn't even have a chance to contact private equity firms. How should I respond to interviewers if they ask about deal process/how I interacted with clients?
