Leveraging UK BB return offer

Hello,

I recently was an off-cycle intern at a BB in London and just received my return offer. It was always my dream to work in NY but all of the recruiting for the 2022 graduate class has already finished. Does anyone have any tips on how to possibly still recruit for BBs in NY? I was thinking there might be prospective analysts that reneged on their offers and therefore banks post one-off positions.

I understand the alternative is to try to lateral after a year or two which will be easier. However, just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.

Any advice would be appreciated!

The only way to American IB without green card / citizenship is through either:

1. Undergrad degree with STEM extension to be safe

2. MBA with STEM designation to be safe

And assuming you do one of above, you have to hope that H1B lottery picks you within three tries, meaning that you need to stay at banking for at least 3 years.

So yea. Better to be in London.
