MBB internship to M&A SA

Good morning fellow monkeys,

I have a question related to recruitment for summer analysts positions. I looked it up on the forum, but didn't come across a similar topic.

I will be interning at one of the MBB this summer (consulting position, continental Europe). I come from a decent school, have a decent GPA and my program is relevant to finance jobs.

My end goal is to land a SA internship in M&A, preferably in London and I was wondering whether this first experience would give me an edge in recruiting and would be looked-for by recruiters. ‎

Why did I take this position if it's not my ultimate objective? I have no work experience and this offer came quite unexpectedly. Besides I knew I could still apply for banking positions next year.

Any insight will be appreciated, thanks. ‎

You're doing MBB as a sophomore summer internship?

You will be in the top 0.1% of candidates for junior M&A SA spots.
