MBB London to IB
Am approaching a year at my MBB in London and realise I don't like the job. It has not been what I expected and what I was sold on. I went to Oxbridge but wasn't particularly career oriented in my first year and missed banking internships etc. I've since realised I would really like working on deals and find finance and financials much more interesting than talking to random client counterparts about their sales strategy. As strange as it sounds I also do better in more hierarchical workplaces. Can I recruit for graduate schemes or am I too late? I realise I would lose a year but would make the trade off in a moment.
Surely moving from MBB to IB in London is very doable. MBB is considered more prestigious than regular IBs
Really? For context would be targeting top EBs/ BBs
Yeah. I'd imagine most would just go straight to PE though as that would be doable from MBB so you could skip out IB altogether.
Most MF/ UMM funds only hire bankers though
