Not getting SA offers, now what?
I know we're in the mist of application season but I'm worried that I wouldn't get a single offer from any bank with a reputable name. I want to know what's the next best course of action to increase my chances of getting into IB as I approach my 3rd year if I don't get a 2024 offer.
My uni offers placement years, so I've already changed to a 4-year degree (a year in placement). I've nearly exhausted all current apps open by major banks for SA applications so it's a bit risky if I apply to them again for placement years/spring week conversion.
I'm thinking of only applying to places for placement-years/spring week that have already rejected me for SA applications.
If I don't get anything, I plan on cold emailing smaller firms but I fear that working for a no-name bank will hurt my chances for graduate programs when I apply during my financial year.
Didn’t SA programs for 2024 close a long time ago?
This is about London, not US
When I was going through the process, I applied to several different roles at the same bank. I interviewed at the same bank for two different Front Office roles during the same application season. Was rejected for one role, got accepted for the other.
Go ahead and apply.
Is this UK?
Yes
Would apply hard during the start of your placement year to do a summer internship after it finishes, that way you can spin whatever exp u get during the placement to help you in ur apps as well.
