Opportunity at Big 4 offer vs. uncertain trying to break into Bain/Roland Berger
Hey Guys I am a new chimp here, my name is Rafal but Ill call myself statraf2 for the purpose of this Oasis. I have a straightforward question, I know its a popular topic but this is a new graduate scheme so ;)
I got an offer for 2 years programme at PwC its called Future Leaders Deals and Strategy graduate programme and lasts for 2 years. You start as a consultant (I am fresh Imperial College graduate from UK with no experience besides internships) and rotate across the four areas mentioned below. Also, you get Partner mentoring, career coach and overall you get some boost. I always wanted to do MBB but I might have a shot at Bain and Roland Berger while for McK and BCG I think Ill miss a few minutes in their McK PST test.
Overall, the PwC program structure is more or less like this :
mergers & acquisition
Rotation in leading foreign investors / private equity funds when acquiring firms in my country („buy side advisory”), and leading private equity funds when deinvesting portfolio companies in my country („sell-side advisory”).
transaction services
when making strategic decisions of purchase, acquisition or strategic alliances. Projects deal with complex business projects and considering key value drivers, profitability analysis and risks of planned transaction.
valuations
Risk and factors that create value and can have an impact on the price of the company, valuation techniques and analysis to set the correct price for purchased/sold firm and advising the steps for increasing he value for shareholders when restructuring or while the market goes down
business recovery services & debt advisory
structuring and financing investment projects, strategies of financing and refinancing entrepreneurs and their debtors when restructuring operations, finances + liquidations
strategy
Projects deal with planning the company strategy, company growth, due dilligence, market analysis, cost reductions , post merger integrations
As I mentioned the program lasts 2 years, and they say it will be pretty tailored to my skills and I should rotate between those 4 areas.
Do you think it might be a decent opportunity for a fresh grad or should I spend 2-3 months more trying to prepare for Bain/ Roland Berger ... ?
Please consider exit opportunities as I am really a long term player and do not care about short term money gains that much
Regards,
Rafal
