Positions with Exposure to Only One Asset Class

Monkeys, I've been looking at a couple different analyst positions on the buy-side; however, both of them focus on specific asset classes (i.e. Multifamily and retail). 

So far, I have experience working with all asset classes and I am scared to confine myself to one specific asset class for growth opportunities down the road.

Do you guys think that passing up on opportunities such one of these would be dumb? Would it be harder to land more of a generalist position down the road if I were to take said position?
