Practicing for Investment Banking Interviews

Good morning everybody,

I am a freshman at an Italian university and am currently going through the recruiting process for investment banking's spring weeks.

I was wondering if someone is willing to practice answering questions. Either remotely or in person is fine.

For logistical reasons, in-person practice is limited to people based in the Italian northwest region.

Thanks to everyone who answers.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips and resources for practicing for investment banking interviews, especially for spring weeks:

  1. Mock Interviews with Pros:

    • Utilize WSO's mock interview services to get professional feedback and improve your performance.
  2. Spring Week Insights:

    • Refer to the "Spring Week - Ask me anything (Q&A)" thread where users discuss their experiences and provide valuable advice. This thread mentions that most participants come from classic UK target schools but also includes people from Germany, Netherlands, Italy, and France.
  3. Investment Banking Interview Prep:

    • Leverage the resources available on WSO for investment banking interview preparation, including financial modeling resources, Excel resources, and downloadable templates.
  4. Networking and Persistence:

    • As highlighted in the "2nd year IB Analyst taking questions" thread, networking and persistence are crucial. The analyst shared that despite having a GPA under 3.5, they broke into banking through sheer persistence and networking.
  5. Pre-IB Internship Experience:

    • The "Pre-Investment Banking Internship: Calling all freshmen and sophomores" thread provides an inspiring story of securing an internship through extensive networking and preparation. This experience can set you apart in the competitive recruiting process.
  6. Behavioral Techniques:

    • Practice common behavioral questions and scenarios. The "My Favourite Question For Wrapping Up Interviews" thread suggests preparing for personal and situational questions that can help build rapport with interviewers.

For in-person practice, consider connecting with peers or professionals in the Italian northwest region who are also preparing for investment banking interviews. Remote practice can be facilitated through online platforms, allowing you to connect with a broader network.

Good luck with your preparation!
