Preparation for summer internship applications in case of no SWs

Hello all,

I am a first year at a target uni in the UK looking to get into IB or GCM. Some spring week offers have come out and I am slightly concerned I may not get any spring weeks because I was too focused on perfecting my application rather than just applying asap. I also have had a learning curve with HireVues which has meant some of my applications were unsuccessful.

I feel as though I should have had a better plan for getting into society leadership roles but I am trying to get a summer internship before 2nd year. I have taken a look at some guides online, but is there any further advice on how to put myself in a good position to try for summers next year?

If anyone has had a similar experience, how much more difficult did you find applying to summer internships vs spring weeks?

I would appreciate any advice/insights.

Thank you
