Private Equity internship to Full time BB
Asking for a friend who's in a dilemma. I know that WSO has a lot of knowledgeable people and I would highly appreciate your input.
My friend got himself an IBD summer internship offer from a BB in London as well as a PE megafund internship offer. He's looking to jump to the buyside in a couple of years and graduates in 2018. The summer internship would help him distinguish himself from the rest of the analysts come PE recruiting. Is it possible for him to take the megafund, (think KKR/Blackstone/Apollo) and use his summer internship to land full-time interviews with BBs next fall?
Do you also know if he qualifies for accelerated interviews if he is interning at a top PE firm. We've both tried researching this issue but there is little to no information regarding this. Would your firm, (only people at BBs) invite e.g. KKR summer analysts with previous no-name boutique internships for a full-time interview?
