Reaching Out to Old Headhunter

Recently accepted a PE offer through a headhunter that also covers an HF I’m interested in moving to post-PE (planning on the typical 2+2). Will that headhunter block me from interviewing with the HF since I’ll be working at one of their PE clients? Or is it fine to reach back out to the headhunter after a year in PE and let them know I’m looking to move after the program?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's generally acceptable to reach out to a headhunter even after accepting a position through them. They are in the business of placing candidates, and your interest in exploring other opportunities can be beneficial for them as well. However, it's important to approach this with tact and professionalism.

When you reach out, express your gratitude for their help in securing your current position, and then explain your interest in exploring other opportunities after your program. It's crucial to maintain a good relationship with the headhunter, as they can be a valuable resource in your career progression.

However, keep in mind that each headhunter and firm may have different policies and attitudes towards such moves. It's always a good idea to be open, honest, and respectful in your communications.
