Reneged on verbal acceptance for SA offer but now regret it - can I ask for it back?

I declined an offer I'd verbally accepted for SA for another offer, but I now regret doing that and would much prefer that firm. Can I ask for the offer back? It has been a few days since I declined it

Why exactly do you regret it? Are the experiences dramatically different? It could be an awkward conversation but if nothing is in writing and you really feel strongly about it, it could be worth having.

If they're both BBs or EBs I would hesitate, just because the risk of such a quick renege is probably not worth it. You're likewise probably overestimating the extent to which your MF or UMM exits are cut off by recruiting from a bank like UBS vs a JPM or something like that.

If it's a MM vs BB or EB then I think its worth asking. As someone else indicated, you won't know if you don't ask. If you have a close contact or alumni that you have been speaking to throughout the process in this scenario I would say its worth reaching out to explain yourself, just be prepared to find out that its not going to result in any change or you getting the offer back.

You didn’t really renege since you didn’t sign anything with them to begin with.

Wouldn’t hurt to ask and you should ask or you’ll just be stuck

Tell us more about the firms? was it bb/eb/mm you reneged and which one do you want the offer back from?
