Senior Credit Analyst vs Portfolio Analyst
I am looking at two potential opportunities:
1) Senior Credit Analyst at a non-BB bank in corporate banking. Role sits in the front office and is a good setup to become a relationship manager. This has been explicitly mentioned in the job spec and in the interview process. The bank is one of the larger players in the Commodity financing market. Role would work very closely with the lending team on underwriting / approving potential deals.
2) Portfolio Analyst at a top tier PE firm. Role would be a heavy reporting role that would support a PM. Developmental areas were not clear but was mentioned via phone intvw that could either lead into becoming a PM or work in COO type role. The developmental path in this role was way more ambiguous than option 1.
I believe comp will be generally the same. I think my personality and skill-set caters more to a relationship management type role that option 1 leads to but option 2 is a top tier PE firm that would look fantastic on my resume.
