Suit for internal interview

Have an internal job interview with a different business area coming up. I have always been in the camp that you should always wear a suit and tie to an interview no matter what. However, since this is an internal interview during the workday should I still wear a suit to work that day? For context nobody wears a suit to work, our dress code is business casual. Just don't want to be awkward and wear a suit to the office for an otherwise normal workday and have everyone asking questions. On the other hand, I don't want to seem unprofessional or as though I'm not taking the interview serious in any way. Curious to hear all your thoughts or if anyone has any other advice for an internal interview as I've never interviewed for any internal roles before. Thanks in advance.

I like how "workday" is referenced here...  Whether your company is using the software or not, have a look and see how the manager/team is dressed and match that.

Just ask your interviewer what they would prefer.
