Tips for FT recruiting?

Target school, 3.9+. Soph summer I did a well known SM HF (think D1) and upcoming summer I'm going to a MMHF (Citadel/P72). long story short I didn't like public equities investing last summer and looking to pivot. Have a few analyst connects in CO'26/CO'27 but I heard that recruiting (esp in NYC) is prob a crapshoot at any name brand firm (ex. JPM) without a partner connect. Any tips to best prepare myself for FT recruiting?
