To recruit or not to Recruit?: Got an IB Internship for next summer, should I still be recruiting for the following?

I’ve got an internship in IB next summer, which comes with a return offer should I perform well. That being said should I still be recruiting with other firms come January/February when applications open, or should I just try to convert my internship into a full time? Or perhaps maybe even both?

I would attend junior/FT info sessions to learn more about different banks and establish new connections. In the worst case scenario where you don't get an offer it is going to be a lot easier to hit someone back up who you've already spoken to and plus you'll already have shown a displayed an interest in their firm, as opposed to just cold emailing which still works but is not nearly as great.

Ah, the age-old question of "to recruit or not to recruit?" It's a bit like asking if you should have one banana or a whole bunch. Here's my take on it:

If you've already secured an internship with a return offer on the table, that's fantastic! It's like having a ripe banana in your hand. You've got something solid, and it's a great opportunity to learn and grow.

However, it doesn't hurt to keep your eyes peeled (pun intended) for other opportunities. Recruiting with other firms can give you a sense of what else is out there, and you might stumble upon a role that's a better fit for you. It's like scouting for the perfect banana tree while you've already got a banana in your hand.

But remember, the key is to balance your time and energy. Don't let your current internship suffer because you're too focused on recruiting. After all, you don't want to drop the banana you have for the ones you don't.

So, in short, it's not a bad idea to continue recruiting while you're interning, but make sure you're also putting in your best effort at your current role. It's all about finding the right balance. And who knows? You might end up with a whole bunch of bananas!
