US -> London Transfer Request Advice

Hey guys – wanted your guys' advice on the above. I just finished my first year as an IBD analyst in one of the west coast offices, and was thinking of transferring to the London office at the end of my second year (~May 2024) - the bank has a solid office in London and a good reach in EMEA. I'm a fairly strong performer and haven't really ever gotten any performance issues brought up. Mostly looking to transfer for visa reasons and also my family is based in EMEA and several health issues with various members means I would like to be closer to home for a few years before returning to the states long-term. Any advice on how I should go about this? Our Americas Head of IBD sits in my office - should I go talk to him first? Mostly cautious of offending my MDs with the transfer request but not sure to what extent this is the case. Any advice on timeline I should bring this up? Any thoughts always appreciated!
