What Job Is Best For Me?
Hey guys, I'm a 17 y/o who is about to apply for uni soon in UK. My main subject choices are Econ/finance(Econ at 4 Unis, Finance at 1). After uni, I am looking for a job in the financial services sector: IB, hedge fund, PE, quant...you get the idea. The thing is I'm not sure which is best for me.
I am looking for a job that is math intensive, very high risk, non repetitive, requires lateral thinking, places an emphasis on making your own decisions and one where you can never be 'bored'. I apologize if I am sounding amateruish, but I just want to know what careers are available that fit my preferences.
The thing is, I looked at some job sites and for hedge funds, they require a 'quantitative' degree, e.g. Maths, Physics. Whilst I enjoy math, I genuinely want to study Econ/finance so would I be 'disadvantaged' for job possibilities by not taking a math degree instead?
I think I should also mention that I want to apply to an American firm in the City so that I have the chance to transfer to the US later on.
Thanks!
Risk management.
Study finance/economics with a math minor and a couple computer science courses.
