What should I be focusing on in order to land a role by graduation?

I am in a strange place, one year of REPE experience in the EU, an MBA from the EU, and looking to go back to the US.

I've been networking, but the alum base in the US is not in the RE industry. When networking with US REPE associate/analysts I get a very poor response rate, but with the few that have responded I've gotten great advice. Most HHs are telling me to wait until June for funds to start hiring more, but atm there isn't much going on. I've had 2 interviews since applying at the beginning of the month and both have went to final interviews and now require me to wait because the timeline is dependant on Covid.

I want to get the most experience I can, and would love to go to a bigger fund (said everyone), and was just curious if there is a better way to go about it? Should I be aiming to stay in the EU for one more year because my school will carry more weight in London vs NY? Is there a way to get a better response rate in cold emailing?
