Which Role Should I Take?

Hello All,

I'm in a bit of a predicament at the moment. I am in my penultimate year of university/college and whilst I was initially looking for a summer role in IBD things didn't quite work out that way.

Instead I have been offered a variety of roles for 8/9 weeks in private or corporate banking at a BB in London. I have been sent a pack full of descriptions of lots of roles on offer and as you will imagine, the jargon is in full flow.

On initial reading, the roles on offer look a lot more interesting. A lot of mention of Mutual and Hedge Funds, International Wealth Advisory, Private Banking Executive etc.

The corporate banking roles sound quite dry, and I'm not sure if that's because of the jargon used. Terms such as liquidity management, cash management, trade finance etc. are used in descriptions for some of the roles.

Can anyone give any insight on which line I should follow? I feel like I would enjoy the private banking role more (enjoy client interaction), however which do you guys feel would be more conducive to FT hire for IBD come the fall.

Thanks in advance!
