Why are European IB salaries so low compared to the US?
To take one example, London GS analyst pay is around $100K whilst NY GS analyst pay is around $150K. What causes this disparity?

Warning, you will get a lot of misleading answers because Western Europeans tend to be extremely thin-skinned and insecure when it comes to living standards vis-a-vis the US. The reality however is that America is simply a richer country, and in this case has a much more developed financial sector. It is the same reason why Poland pays better than Thailand with the disparity widening even more for IT salaries.
