Aloha from a Lurker turned User

Name: naj
School: Big 10 University
Major: Finance

Year: Soph.
GPA: 3.2

How's everybody doing tonight? Figured I would introduce myself. I have been a long time lurker on the forums and recently decided to set up an account. Seems like a great group of intelligent (some not so much) people with similar interests and career aspirations as myself.

Born and raised in the cold north, MN. Went to a military, all male, catholic, college preparatory high school. Moved to Iowa for undergrad. Lacked direction my freshman year hence the lackluster GPA (ended fresh. year with 3.0). Always felt uninterested in most of my gen. ed. classes. Take it easy people

This summer I've been working for the local branch of a larger financial advising firm. We deal with life insurance, retirement plans, mutual fund investing etc. It's not technically an internship, mostly back office work, but it has given me good exposure to the advising industry. To be honest, I have found that advisory work - especially for small and local clientele - doesn't appeal to me.
