I am confused by your question, you are currently a sophomore and looking to get a SA position in summer 2014? You do not need an IB job sophomore year to get looked at, but I would say a corporate finance internship at a F500 or PWM internship is a must. I had a F500 internship sophomore year at a non-target (expect 1 MM bank) and during the fall had a 3.6 GPA and landed 4 first round IBD interviews (2 BB) and a few Superdays. To answer your question, get a F500 finance internship or PWM internship this summer. Network with anyone at your job, cold call alumni and anyone whos email you can get. Show an interest and be personable and people are generally willing to help you out. After you get your first round it is all up to you though.

Hope that helps

ct bankerPM me your resume and the place you will be doing your PWM if you want and I think that I can give you a better idea, but it sounds like you are in the right place. The key is to get ahold of the right people at the potential banks you want to work.

Could you clarify what you mean by get ahold of the right people? That is to say, who are the right people.
