Finance-related activities?

Hi WSO community, I'm sure this is a post that many of you won't bother reading, but I'm just trying to follow the 3 "start up steps" that I have been given.

I'm a freshman at Texas Christian University with hopes of studying finance in the future. The business school here is selective, and I will need to nail my course load this next semester to get in. I am inquiring about possible finance-related things I could do in-between semesters (or during school) that would help prepare myself for a possible future in finance. Internships aren't an option for me until the summer of 2016, as I am working for my family this summer.

Thank you in advance,
CFOinTraining
