Freshman Summer- Take the opportunity???

Hello monkeys,

Chimp here. Thought I'd start my contribution with a little story on my search for an internship.

I'm a freshman at a top 20 and I've been sending out mass emails hunting for jobs at boutiques, quant shops, HFs, IM firms, you name it. At last, I finally got an email from a small boutique telling me they were offering a full time Summer internship UNPAID on top of my having to relocate to the other side of the states. I'd have to sort out travel, housing and food.

If you have the finances, this is a no-brainer. Take the internship. As a freshman, the odds of my landing an internship at an M&A boutique are slim to none and the experience is almost unparalleled.

I don't have the finances, however. My school won't subsidize internships at for-profit organizations. Is the freshman summer finance experience worth the dent in my parents' bank account? Do I take out a bank loan? Opening it out to you monkeys.
