Hello from Newbie PhD!

Hello,

I'm currently a third year PhD student based in the UK. I primarily work in the development of biosensors which combines biological component (such as an enzyme) with a physiochemical conductor to generate current, in order to detect our analyte of interest. In a nutshell, it's basically a cross disciplinary combination of chemistry with biology.

Currently, I'm interested in exploring what my PhD may offer me beyond academia. I'm particularly interested in entering the finance industry, as whilst I have little experience, I'm craving a new challenge and a change away from the lifestyle of academia.

Any advice as to where I could potentially benefit a company from possessing a PhD? Or what avenues are potentially open? Ideally I would like to work abroad, particularly in the USA, Hong Kong, Japan or Australia.

Looking forward to take part in the forums.
Cheers
Gar
