New to WSO - Any Canadians Out There?

Hey everyone,

I've been a long time reader of the forum, but now that I've completed my undergrad and actually have some practical experience (both internships and full-time positions) I feel that its time to add my two cents to some of the discussion on the forum. I'm currently working for a large accounting and consulting firm; however, I'd like to eventually break into private wealth management or possibly work at a small hedge fund.

I realized that some of you may ask why I decided to pursue accounting if I'd like to get into investment banking. While completing my undergrad, a professor once told me not to doubt the importance of understanding the underlying transactions within a company's financial statements. With that in mind, I felt that the best way to understand a company's value is by understanding the company's books. I know that many of you may not agree with that statement; however, its the path I chose and I plan to pursue further education along the road to get me to where I want to be (i.e. CFA and possibly MFA).

I was also curious if there's anyone on here who's from Canada and has made a successful transition to a large IB firm in the US or Europe.

Thanks,
