No idea what I've got myself into

Hi all, I've joined WSO to figure out exactly what IB's all about. I've spent the last three years out of university working as a consultant/data scientist for CPG/Retail clients but I'm looking for a change. I've always had an interest in Finance since I started my undergrad because most of my friends had to study it in some shape of form but I stuck with studying mathematics lol. Just last night, I put in a job application at GS for an Associate role in their Retail/CPG/Health IBD but now feel like the role is way above where I should be at after reading a few of the threads here. I'm just going to keep reading and figure out if there's a way to get my foot in the door. Cheers!
