Sophomore Undergraduate New to Finance - Looking for Advice re Career

Hi all,

This is essentially a copy-paste post I made in the HF forum - reposting here since I wasn't able to get any traction there.

I'm currently a sophomore undergrad at a T10 double majoring in business admin and biology (think programs like Penn LSM, Berkeley LSBE). I am new to the finance industry and, unfortunately, as per what I've been told, the ship towards pursuing a career in IB has sailed for summer 2026 as recruitment started earlier this year.

The analytical aspect of high finance are particularly interesting to me and I do not see myself working behind a lab bench, so I'm currently seeking out opportunities in different finance industries. I am open to pretty much all opportunities in finance, whether that be IB, HF, Private Equity... I am just not sure if it is too late to recruit now that I'm closing in on my second year and opportunities to recruit for my junior year summer are pretty much over.

I wanted to know if trying to break into finance will be realistically feasible given my background and limited amount of experience. Getting a PhD in comp bio sounds like a long road which I don't necessarily want to embark on + consulting/business admin work doesn't particularly excite me.

Looking forward to your thoughts. TIA.
