Stumbling upon an Oasis

Hello All!

I am a new Economics & Finance major graduating this December from The University of Miami. I am son of a single immigrant mother, first in my family to go to university. I spent my most of undergrad overwhelming myself with too many classes (average: 18 credits a semester), extra curricular activities (elected VP of the International Students Org-Sophomore & Junior year) and bouncing around between different major combinations to find the one that was the right fit. I tried Engineering and Legal Studies as second majors before finding my true love beginning of my 4th year.

Because I am late-in the game of Finance with a low-gpa (think 2.8-3.0) at a non-target school, I am dying for some exposure to professionals in the industry. I need to start walking the walk and talking the talk. Above all I any internship opportunity where I can start rubbing elbows and getting my hands dirty as soon as possible. Its because of these needs I am so grateful to have stumbled upon this, The Wall Street Oasis. Thanks to Patrick and all the other professionals on the site for providing this wealth of knowledge and resources for the new kids on the block.

PS. I seem to have a knack for foreign languages, of which I am proficient in 2 (Mandarin & Spanish) and working on Japanese. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can effectively leverage this skill in finance, given my stated position, we should be better friends.

All The Best,
Signed: a future WSO millionare (in bananas as well as dollars).
