Want to make sure I'm going in the right direction...
Hello Monkeys,
I wanted to see if I could get any feedback in regards to the path that I'm about to pursue in hopes of landing a beginners role in Wall Street.
So, let me start with a bit of background information. I'm not a finance major and I went to a non-target school. My undergraduate GPA was a 3.1 and I'll admit to not focusing where I should've. I have however always been interested in finance and given my major I landed a job at the Nasdaq editorial desk.
Now with my background out of the way here is the plan. I'm currently studying for the GMAT and recently took level 1 of the CFA. I did not pass the CFA (but am proud to say I was in the top 20% of those who failed). I plan on taking the GMAT next month and then applying to MSF all over the country obviously aiming at target schools. While rebranding myself through my MSF I'd like to pass level 1 of the CFA and hopefully start an internship anywhere I could get one. After this I'll continue to pursue my CFA and fight my way to the top.
I would like to land an internship before the MSF but I'm skeptical that I would be considered since I have no experience. So, with all that said, I would like input in regards to my plan. Do you think it will work? Where could I improve it? What else could be done in my situation to help my odds?

TL;DR/Cliffnotes
Comm Major - Rebranding through an MSF
During this time I plan to:
Take the GMAT and get into a mid range to target school
Retake CFA level 1 and pass by the time I finish my MSF
Land an internship during or immediately after my MSF
Does the stuff above sound like a decent plan? What could be done better.
Thanks Monkeys
Impossible is nothing.
What do you want to do post MSF? Also, before jumping into studying for the CFA, make sure that it will actually help you land a job (IB vs ER). If it does not add value, you're most likely better off spending that time networking, brushing up on modeling/technical topics, and crushing it in your MSF classes so you actually land interviews. For some career paths, the CFA may not really be worth the time it takes to study. You should be able to research this on this website quite easily.
I would like to get a start trading. Then overtime move into ER and see what comes next. I know the CFA is good for ER and I was also going to use it to solidfy my capabilities for interviews. I've been reading a lot of monkey chatter as of late and it has helped me come up with this plan. Do you know of any specific MSF program I should be aiming at?
"I was in the top 80% of those who failed"
That seriously made my day.
