Allen Edmonds for $44

My luck continues, though this one had nothing to do with hard work.

I was looking around at Nordstrom Rack for no particular reason and found a couple of Allen Edmonds Park Avenue for $200; unfortunately, one was a wide and the other a narrow, and though both were otherwise my usual size, neither were even close to a fit.

Meanwhile, my wife had stumbled across a pair of dark brown Allen Edmonds, but in the Clifton model and a size up from my usual. Since it is one of my favorite models after the Park Avenue, I tried them on anyway. They fit me perfectly (I guess they run a little large?), and they were marked down to $179. I picked up some shoe trees and a shoe horn and by now the purchase was a foregone conclusion. I walked to the register and pulled out my wallet.

After some fumbling with the product scanner, the helpful lady checking me out said, "Oh my gosh, you're just going to die". I didn't have time to think about what that meant because she followed almost immediately with "they're ringing up at $44, and that's probably the best deal I've seen all week!"

So that's my story.

I'm guessing these are seconds. Great find, nonetheless.

Exactly what I thought at first, but they are brand new. Not a single sign of wear. I think it was a coding mistake. They were clearly labeled $179.
