any tips to make HVD faster?

hi guys, cheap ass firm wouldn't give us laptops, so we're all running HVDs now. any tips for making it go faster? i have the fastest internet money can buy and i'm on a wired connection, also running a top of the line system but shit is slow still, so i'm thinking the bottleneck lies with the HVD system itself - do any of you have tips on making that shit run faster/smoother?
