Biking to work - London

Monkeys,

I just bought a great bike, as spring started and had the idea to start biking to work.

Commute is not that long, 20/25min ish, though I am scared by eventual sweat and by the fact that it can ruin my suits.

How do you guys manage your commute? How do you fight sweat?

I should buy helmets or similar things?

Thanks

I bike to work in London - takes about 30 mins. You will end up sweating no matter what but if you're clean beforehand you won't stink when you sweat. As for helmets and other gear, if you have a pro bike and are planning to go laser fast then get a helmet. If your path is mainly on the road get one. If you have a lot of cycle lane on your way to work and go at a more chilled pace (and are careful) you can do without).

Would definitely recommend wearing a helmet - just seems like common sense to me, especially in London where you're often vying for road space with buses and cars and there isn't always a cycle lane.

If you don't have showers / changing rooms at your firm, bring some deodorant with you and give yourself a spritz when you arrive. Would also suggest cycling in a clean t-shirt and then changing into a proper shirt when you arrive just in case you do break a sweat!
