G20 Rioting in London

I can't believe this hasn't been brought up yet; I figured people would surely be discussing the rioting in London. I was actually a little impressed that some of them got their hands on an APC (presumably more difficult in England than the US). Any City bankers have good stories to share?

I can't believe these idiots decided to hold this meeting in London when they were anticipating some sort of demonstration. They should know the english are notorious for this type of behavior.......go to one of the soccer matches

i saw video of the rioters smashing through the glass exterior of RBC and destroying the interior. pretty scary actually. the banks told the workers to dress down, or not come to work.

Every time I think it is a bad time to get into banking, I think of this quote from Warren Buffet...

"When investing, pessimism is your friend, euphoria the enemy"

I know he is talking about investing, but I think it is an appropriate analogy to entering the finance industry at this time.

"Fearing they would be targeted by protesters, some bankers swapped their pinstripe suits for casual wear and others stayed home. Bolder financial workers leaned out their office windows Wednesday, taunting demonstrators and waving 10 pound notes at them."

"Another black-clad demonstrator waved a fake light saber at officers."

Stay classy, London.

It's actually funny, I am interning in London City, 2 blocks away from the RBS branch that was broken into, and we had "dress-down code" since tuesday, and you could probably still identify the bankers as they were all dressed up as models from ralph lauren or levi's
