Honestly, what a nightmare. They don't have an address so they can't get a job. I've been living downtown for 1.5yrs in my city and it just breaks my heart seeing homeless people. We need to have some sort of system that helps homeless people nationwide. An agency. We can't treat our own US Citizens and Veterans like this.

Anyone who actually wanted to “make America great again” would look up the top marginal tax rates in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and even most of the 80s, when we actually were great.
A couple years down the line, I want to start an organization that just helps one person at a time. A complete overhaul on life. Hygene first, then new clothes, a workout routine, and finally a job and new place to live.
I've talked to a lot of homeless people over the years and some of them are just happy where they are in life, they embrace the struggle and sometimes can make enough cash in a day for food and drugs by begging. But, I think there is more to life than that and a light at the end of the tunnel. Some people have literally had so little hope in their life they don't know how to hope anymore.
Dude, I think you are vastly underestimating the amount of resources and effort it takes to turn a homeless person's life around. Especially the effort it takes from the homeless person themselves.
I used to date a girl that worked at a homeless shelter so I spent a good amount of time volunteering to help her out. A huge percentage of them either have a mental illness and / or drug addiction problems. Giving the hygiene, new clothes, a job and even a temporary address to get them started is the easy part. It is the helping them with the drug addiction or mental illness that is super tough. That shit is hard as hell to help in a regular person with a support system and cash, but add on top of that mental illness, poverty and no support, it is a god damn miracle to help.
On top of that, a lot homeless don't want help until they hit absolute rock bottom (unfortunately rock bottom for many of them is death). Going back to my earlier point, many places that offer help have rules against drugs but because they are addicted they can't help themselves. Many of them also enjoy the freedom of being homeless and getting back into a structured life is painful for them.
I admire your compassion, but just wanted to share a few observations to discuss why it is so tough. The lack of mental illness facilities certainly plays a role. Whenever one of those gets defunded or shut down, a lot of those patients become homeless.

Yes, it is truly sad to see. Not having a stable address can make getting back on your feet even harder. There should definitely be better support for people in that situation.
