I need advise.
First year summer intern here. Halfway through my first internship. I’m working in wealth management at Morgan Stanley. Next year I’m working at UBS for wealth management also. Will i be able to work in wealth management (buy side) right after graduating? Or am i still expected to work in IB for a few years before switching over. Would really like to get some advice, because maybe i should try getting an internship in IB my junior/senior year to better set myself up. Thanks guys!
IB and Wealth Management are two different things. They are both front office jobs. They are not both “buy side” jobs but that is irrelevant. If you intern, your offer will come from that same team/division (WM). If you want to be a FA this is the path for you. You are not in a IB role/function currently. Therefore, if you want to break into IB you need to get an IB internship. Good luck. 👍
