I’m done with the left.

I'm done with left- tired of the ideology of diversity, excuses for criminality, neo-racism, neo-sexism, the attack on excellence, basic decency, and quality. I have always considered myself liberal and in many ways I still am, but the left’s instinct for empathy have reached a pathological threshold. I think both parties are dysfunctional, but during this time I am going to vote republican going forward.

Leftist ideology has always appealed to the 'I am so smart' and 'I am so caring' crowd, with policies that play out well in theory but never in practicality because they want to view the world through the lens of ideal human nature but not the reality of it.

I remember being younger and loving the Colberts and Jon Stewarts of the world. Find them insufferable twats now. Personal accountability for your decisions is one of the most important traits you need to develop in order to succeed in this world. It is almost incompatible with modern liberal beliefs.

Controversial

Liberal policies like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare etc. are so damn good that the right wing cannot repeal them even when they control all three branches of government.  Remember when Trump tried to tear down Obamacare?

Meanwhile, conservative policies are so unpopular that even their own base doesn't approve of them (25% approval for Trump tax cuts, even Republican voters now disapprove of supply side/trickle down)  That's why they have to use the culture wars to win elections, or just blame everything on Biden (the Republican solution to inflation is... a bill that says no other bills can be passed if they increase inflation... so basically doing absolutely nothing)

As a liberal, I do support personal accountability, but when you have threads about bankers living in Harlem because rent is too high, maybe the whole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" thing is not as easy as it used to be, and we need to do something to save the American dream.

Here are some of the problems I have with the Democratic Party today:

Corruption at the highest office.

Hunter Bidens laptop, which he gave to a computer store to repair and forgot to pick up, shows documentation of the Biden family geopolitical plays when Biden was VP - Foreign governments paid Hunter for influence with the “the big man” (as referenced in the documents) while he blew it all up his nose and paid for international hookers, Russian girls included that further set him up recording them to leak that to the Russian government. So there’s that.

Some of the countries listed in the documentation that paid Hunter to sit on private company boards that are oversaw by their governments: China, Ukraine, Romania. There are more those are just the ones that come to mind.

Which brings the question of US involvement in the Ukraine situation, are any of Bidens decisions to support Ukraine backed in a corrupt relationship that paid his family millions for influence? It’s sure a fair question.

Next biggest problem with the Democratic Party, their policies at the local level of crime enforcement.

Looking at the data from cities like LA, Minneapolis, can you say defunding the police departments was a success? Can you say that allowing homeless people to sleep or shit wherever they are in the city has been successful? How about the drug centers that give out needles, pipes, and allow for “safe” injections. Has that increased or decreased drug use in Cali?

This isn’t a tit for tat and I’m not saying there’s a simple republican policy to fix local crime but I think a start would be republicans push for more local police enforcement and not allowing open drug use or enabling homelessness by allowing them to defecate or sleep wherever they would like.

As every problem is, it is a multifaceted problem. Please don’t give me reasons as to why homelessness is so high such as the American dream is gone, America is too expensive, no opportunities for those at the bottom, yada yada yada. Let’s stay focused on the policies themselves in respect to solving the issues.

What’s your response to the Biden corruption and how do you feel about the local democrat driven policies towards homelessness and crime?

I am not an incel, not a conservative(not like that means anything, nowadays) I’m literally a black kid studying comp sci from California and really into art, engineering, science, and progress. And even though I was basically apolitical most of my life I was nominally a liberal — just calling a spade a spade.

Smoke Frog

I feel exactly the same way, but after trump and the fact not one Republican every stood up to him, I also can't vote right in my lifetime. So I've decided to just never vote again unless someone like Bill Clinton shows up to lead the left.

Youngkin 2024 is the only hope we have left for this country

I’ll stay home if we’re having to vote for dumbass boomer Biden/trump again

Let's be honest he only won because McAuliffe ran a horrible campaign basically calling him "Trumpy", which was inaccurate in many ways. I simply cannot see how a private equity executive can lead the "America First" MAGA movement, when his job was responsible for routinely destroying the middle class and shipping jobs oversees. Whereas with Trump his main businesses are in luxury real estate and hospitality which hires hundreds if not thousands of working class/lower income individuals. There is no way Youngkin's opponent and the media would not routinely bring up his past track record and that would sink him.

Conservatives spend so much time and energy fixated on what liberals do.  There has to be a better use for your your time.  Go work out, learn an instrument, read a book, watch some sports, etc.  Almost anything has to better than shit posting about liberals on WSO.

I think you have this backwards. During Trump’s term CNN just loved bashing him and their ratings were based on it.

Sorry buddy, you are wrong.  First of all, Trump is not a conservative.  Second, aside from the typical Drumpfy post, how many topics do you see on WSO with conservatives trashing liberals versus liberals trashing conservatives.  The ratio must be 50 to 1.  When do you ever see a topic like I am done with conservatives?   The answer is never.

You’re in your late 30s right? You don’t remember Fox News bashing Obama, literally daily, for 8 years?

BUT MUH LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE

The problem with the current left is that they went totally insane and are causing tremendous damage to the United States. The woke stuff, enforced CRT education,  shutting down pipelines, draconian climate measures. The active encouragement of censorship because of dissenting opinions.

If you compare this stuff with the democrats only a few decades ago, to call them radicalized is an understatement.
