What do you all think of the trial? Very sad on one hand for the mental health stuff, but also it's not an excuse to get away with murder. Like with drunk drivers and school shooters.
Realistically speaking, regardless of which way the trial goes her life is pretty much over.
If she's:
Not guilty: spend the rest of eternity in a mental institution
Guilty: spend the rest of her days locked up
Neither outcome restores normalcy, pre-murder life for her.
Listening to the 911 call was horrific.
After see it went to mistrial I can't see how it won't go straight to 'innocent' by a new jury after everyone watched how the trial unfolded.

The TikTok True Crime brigade will make sure you're blamed for whatever happens apparently... All the respect in the world for the hero that held out and prevented a not guilty verdict. They should straight up disbar that defense attorney for trying to make that 1 juror's identity public and get them removed.
It's sickly ironic how for my entire life people have decried the argument of "women are too emotionally volatile" to be put into positions of authority, but when it comes to literal child murder some iteration of "my hormones got me messed up" appears to be a perfectly acceptable defense. There's a multitude of similar cases of men diagnosed with actual severe mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar) who still got life in prison or a death sentence (as they should). On one hand I think it's good something like this gets publicity as there've been a number of other similar cases that get virtually no coverage, on the other it's disturbing how that coverage seems to always coincide with how invested some women become to the point that they're basically copying it (lady just this past week killed her toddler). I remember the same thing happening back during the Casey Anthony trial back in the 2010s.
I know a guy who recently got married who's currently having a massive fight over his wife about this case (she wanted to go be one of the pink shirts showing support outside the court house and made a sizeable donation to LC's GFM). The icing on the cake though is she WANTS kids and he straddles the line of doesn't care/doesn't want to. It'll be interesting to see how many arguments with SOs this is causing other people, particularly if it gets re-tried.

Should get the death penalty. We're too soft. The default sentence for murder in the first degree should be a death sentence carried out within whatever time frame allows someone to go through appeals. Once appeals are done and assuming you didn't get one, you should be promptly executed. For one, this could possibly bring down the violent crime rate, and even if it doesn't, we won't be wasting tax dollars on keeping these people alive.

I'm pretty independent. My statement wasn't really political, but wouldn't supporting the death penalty for this lady and others in similar cases be a more conservative take? Not sure if that's flipped (hard to keep up these days) but if so then kudos to the left for supporting capital punishment in these cases.

Is it, though? This is not a person whom the healthcare system failed. She had repeated access to care. I guess it is sad that modern science and medicine is not in a place where anyone who walks through the door is guaranteed to be "cured" (and thanks MAGA for pushing the antivaxx shit sending us in the exact opposite direction) but at the end of the day this woman was given every opportunity available to a human being to get well, and through a combination of bad luck, a lack of understanding about the human brain, and her own rather glaring mistakes and dishonesty with her doctors, nothing worked.
She killed her kids. She'll spend the rest of her life in a prison of one sort or another. That is justice, whether it is a mental care facility or an actual prison. What concerns me more is the legions of people who seem eager to exonerate her because "she wasn't in her right mind" or something. I wonder if they ever consider the logical endpoint of that conversation. Can't imagine what the response would be if someone refused to hire her because her postpartum condition made this a possibility.
Thank you dems for importation of wonderful healthy productive people who need no medical care and do not put Americans in harms way. And thus are not contributing to the spiraling medicare/medicaid spending as well as not causing massive expenditures in law enforcement, incarceration and judicial budgets..
