London PE with kids
Hi WSO,
Currently A2 in a EB in London and plan to move in the next year or so to the buyside (hopefully MF).
I plan to get married and start having kids as a junior associate and was wondering how feasible it is in terms of work / life balance (assuming wife works only halftime)?
Is this something I should consider not mentioning when I interview (as fund might think that I won't be fully dedicated as I would have to go home a bit earlier)?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, thanks a lot!
This must be a troll post, if so congratzi, I bit.
I suggest outlining a schedule of your weekly non-contactable hours in your first interview, say 5-8pm, where you’ll tend to your kids and wife. Most MFs will be understanding.
If they’re hesitant, try pitching for a bring your child to work scheme, 1-3 days a week. I hear most EBs allow you to do this with dogs, so just draw a comparables tie and I’m sure they’ll see the light.
Hope this helps!
