National Insurance? UK
Hi guys I know this sounds really stupid but i didn't know you needed a national insurance number to work as an international student. They're asking me for one before I can sign the contract for my summer (starts in a month).
I've applied for one and should receive it within 4 weeks. You're allowed to work in the UK without one but I'm not sure they're going to be okay with this. Did anyone else apply for one right before their internship?
Thanks :)
Would it really kill you to put UK in the title?
sorry! edited title
thx +SB cheers
I'm not sure that you'll get many answers on this forum - the only right answer here I think is to call HR and tell them the situation. Hopefully since you have applied, and you'll likely receive the NI card ahead of your start date or shortly thereafter, they'll be ok with it.
It'll be a huge pain for your bank to find another intern this late, so I doubt HR with rescind your offer. I'd have some kind of confirmation of your NI handy to send to them to prove that you're being honest and not just messing them around to delay signing.
So my view is that you'll be ok, but the only thing you should be doing here is sorting it with the bank.
