Thoughts on private members clubs

Any thoughts on the value of these nowadays? Most seem to be dying out (except Soho House/the Ned) but still lots around (based in London). They seem to have low fees if you join when you’re young and then the ratchet up later - are these useful in later life for meetings/networking?
